G4/Convertor

A fully automatic engine to convert any outdated programming language to any other modern and more productive programming language. Frequent conversion projects are for PL/1, Cobol, Ideal, Natural, Centura, Assembler, Progress, ABAP, Mantis, Pascal, Powerhouse, UnifAce etc. The ‘any-to-any’ mode has currently its preferences in targeting to EGL, C#.NET, Java/J2EE, MF-Cobol, Cobol-II, OracleForms, C, C#. Sub-modules are G4/UIO and G4/CLO.
 
G4/UIO
The User Interface Object is part of the G4/Convertor factory. It is one of the components to realize the 4-layer Gartner model. Its main functionality is transforming character based screens or forms in order to modernize legacy applications to SOA and/or Web-enabled architectures.
 
G4/CLO
The Communication Layer Object is part of G4/Convertor and cooperates with G4/UIO. Its main functionality is the modernization of legacy systems to flexible and scaleable service based architectures (SOA) and Web-enabled, Browser based interaction.
 
 
G4/Migrator

A fully automatic engine to migrate network/hierarchical database systems to flexible relational database systems. Migrations apply to IMS, IDMS, UDS, IDS2, DMS2, DMS1100, SESAM, ADABAS, TurboImage, VSAM, ISAM, RDB to relational database target platforms DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, SAPDB, Sybase. Sub-modules are G4/DIO and G4/DLO.
 
G4/DIO
The Data Interface Object is a part of the G4/Migrator factory. Its primary function is to accommodate unsynchronized and navigationally based data requests from network/hierarchical database architectures to be mapped to relational databases.
 
G4/DLO
The Data Layer Object is part of G4/Migrator and cooperates with G4/DIO. Its main functionality is accessing different relational databases from the perspective of network/hierarchical, conventional or indexed sequential data source.
Sub-modules are G4/NEXTRACT, G4/HEXTRACT and G4/UPLOAD.
 
G4/NEXTRACT
The Network (database) unload functionality logically unloads network databases like IDMS, UMS, IDS2, DMS2, DMS1100 etc and converts non-compliant formats of data-fields to ASCII-format. The resulting ASCII files can be imported in Data Mining tools and statistic Datamart packages. In order to create modern relational databases the ASCII-files are processed by G4/UPLOAD.
 
G4/HEXTRACT
The Hierarchical (database) unload functionality logically unloads hierarchical databases like IMS, SESAM, ADABAS, TurboImage etc and converts non-compliant formats of data-fields to ASCII-format. The resulting ASCII-files can be imported in Data Mining tools and Datamart packages. In order to create modern relational databases, the ASCII-files are processed by G4/UPLOAD.
 


G4/Upload

Results from G4/NEXTRACT and G4/HEXTRACT can be uploaded into relational databases like DB2, Oracle-DB, SQL Server, MySQL etc.
Sub-modules are G4/DATAMODELER and G4/OPTIMIZER.
 
G4/Datamodeler
Its main functionality is to remodel database, entity and relational integrity constraints. Typical functionality is primary-key propagation and to establish relational integrity through PK/FK etc. G4/Datamodeler may be invoked by G4/NEXTRACT, G4/HEXTRACT and G4/OPTIMIZER.
 
G4/OPTIMIZER
Its main functionality is process the access-path analysis results from G4/Analyzer or G4/EAM in order to advise for extra indexes on relational databases.
 
 
G4/Renovator

A fully automatic engine to renovate and upgrade legacy applications and versions of platforms and programming languages. Examples are Y2K-repairs (still going on at clients who made a temporary fix in 1999), Euro conversion, SEPA regulations, Account-number expansion, Field expansions like LOT-number, SALES-order-number, Location-code, SSN etc.
The input for G4/Renovator results from the analysis functionality of sub-modules G4/DTI and/or G4/Propagator (see Licensed Product). Both sub-modules require G4/Repository.
